Last time Holiday time! You have to take the opportunity! Fidela think it's nice to have a holiday! She sends Summer greetings to all of her four-legged friends:) Then it was time for the last part of conducting the course. Both Fidela and Bonita were on heat so I went on my own But the fact was that you could concentrate in a different way and it was interesting just to watch, listen and learn when the others were working with their dogs. The first day we were in a large field where they had to make different arrangements, and other difficult exercises, including the search for balls in the stop signal. The next day was the water-conducting. Really good dogs, who managed the difficult task of finding dummys in the water. It was blowing quite hard which made it even more difficult. The large waterlily leaves tricked several dogs to believe that it was a dummy there ..!A big challange that was managed by talented dogs Ulla and I were asked if we could stand in to help out with the Team Championship held at Ralingsåsgården in Aneby Municipality. It was a full 25 teams that had registered with three dog/handler in each team. The first day we worked on the same station where Carina Asp was a judge for the day. It was at the elite level for all the dogs and on our station it was a difficult task routing. Dummies where placed out over a hundred yards out and to get highest points you had to get the dog to go in a straight line. But there were many good dogs that solved it well, though not all! Plus, we were lucky to stand right where the dogs worked, the audience could hardly see anything We set off to Lilla Träskatan in Eskilstuna as Nia and I were going to do a course with Keith Mathews. But on the way there, we had promised to take Linda to Skara Summerland! It became a full-day excursion, the weather was perfect in the morning so we did the swiming first and in the afternoon we did the tivoli. There was a lot of trips on the different rides. And it was enough with one day for me! Keith Mathews is from Ireland and is known as the `The Irish Dog Guru`. There were 10 of us on the course and Nia was the youngest of only four months. She was only with a short time and had to learn a little about seek and heel. The other dogs whose age was between 1-2yrs got some difficult problems to solve. But it was very 'basics' training. Back to the basics they had to do. Most often, people are in too much of a hurry to proceed with retrieving before the basics are nailed. He was easy to understand and clear when he would describe the different stages. Although it was only a one-day course that taught us a lot, and it's always interesting to hear how they train their dogs elsewhere. After the course was over, Nia had a small private heel session and he described her as a very nice little puppy! :) .................................................................................................................................................... The next day was Ulla placed on a water station and I was at the same station as the day before, but with a different task, but then after lunch they wanted me to help on another staion who did a 'walk up', which was very fun to watch because I had not seen a walk-up before. Andreas Fälth took many pictures and they can see if you go into the Then it was time for the ceremony and the team that won was East 2 with 483 points. http://www.ssrksmaland.se/lagsm2011index.html My Labradors & Jenny http://mylabradors.magix.net To see all content, you will need the current version of Adobe Flash Player to view it. |
