December

We could not see all of the retrieves, but it felt as if this was a dog that not everyone noticed, but one that also does not make any mistakes. If you win the The Retriever Championship, you cannot make any mistakes! There were four judges: Mrs RJ Coley, Mr. RD Phillips, Mr. ACM Rountree and Mr. WG Steel. On the third day there were still 16 dogs left. This was more than expected as there where many very good dogs. So the last day carried on longer, but then at last it was time to announce the winner! The winner was Kaliture Black Spruce by Mr K Broomfield. A nice ending to the dog year 2011. We came home with many new experiences that we will use for next year's training.

It had been raining quite a lot before IGL began, which meant it was very muddy! Our shoes weighed twice as much which made it difficult to walk as the clay/mud stuck on our shoes and it just built up.There were several types of crops in the field we trampled on, corn, several kinds of cabbage and mustard, and carrots where the pheasants where hiding. There were loads of birds that flew up when the dogs were working. In the gallery there were several Swedes who had come to watch the IGL among them was Jens Palmqist and Sofia Larsson. Many had their `favorite`dog who they wanted to win, but no one had bet on the winner!

Before we set off we that were in the 'gallery' were given strict instructions to follow after the men who held red flag. Since there was alot of us it was important to try to squeeze behind the flagman if you wanted to see anything! It was pheasants they shot and here we see people who worked to collect the birds. Lunch we had to have with us, while those who competed got their food in a tent that put up on the field. Here three of the dogs wait while their mistress / masters eats his warm soup

We set off to England to watch the IGL, International Retriever Championship. I wanted to experience a true Field Trial in England in a very different environment compared to Småland. We were lucky with the weather on all three days with sun but the wind was cold so we had to wrap up well. There were 46 entered dogs and the first day began at nine o'clock, and carried on to three-time with a short break for lunch.
